2016 Main Event

Corvette Indy's 27th Main Event was held on the weekend of June 4 & 5 at the new location in the old parking lots near the Indianapolis Airport. This new venue allowed for enough space to make a long and fast course when the track was dry. On Saturday 37 competitors found their way to the new location for the first Indiana Region sanctioned events of the year. Unfortunately Saturday's weather was mostly damp with a drenching thunder storm finally halting the runs a bit past the half way point. Once stopped a driver's meeting was held and it was determined that each competitors last 7 runs would be used for the seven event day. Fortunately Sunday was much dryer although very windy for the day's 43 competitors. With the day starting on time and allowing three competitors on the track for their low 50 to mid 60's times all 14 runs were done by 4 in the afternoon. Checking with the competitors during the events found that everyone was enjoying the course and the amenities provided by the Corvette Indy club including tickets for lunch provided by the club.
